
Our plants are grown in Ottawa at the residences of our volunteers. We put in considerable time and effort to make sure that the seedlings we grow are strong and healthy. Each plant is potted in a study new container and includes a label.
The plants are hardened off to the best of our ability prior to the sale.

Tomato - Gardener's Delight (Cherry)


Gardener's Delight cherry tomato has a wonderful, old-fashioned flavour and produces long trusses laden with clusters of 6-12 2.5cm (1"), crack-resistant, bright-red morsels. A mid-maturity variety that can be grown in many regions without protection.
Sweet Million tomato plants mature early and deliver incredible yields of delicious sweet cherry tomatoes all season long. A terrific snacking tomato that's impossible to resist!
Fruits are 2.5 cm (1") average 10-15 grams (~1/2 oz.).
Indeterminate yellow cherry tomato that is easy to grow and early to mature. Sweet Gold produces heavy yields of small, 10-15g (.35-.5oz) fruit growing in single and double clusters. For optimal flavour, harvest when fruit is bright yellow. A good choice for gardens with a relatively short growing season.

The sweetest tasting of this series, Sunrise Bumble Bee has orange skin streaked with pink and gold for incredible visual appeal. They look amazing in salads, and have a very sweet flavour and succulent texture. All our Bumblebee series tomatoes are sold as organic seed. The Bumble Bee series will work in a 5-gallon (or larger) containers, but be sure to keep the vines well picked so they keep producing the crack resistant fruit right through late summer.
Provide support for vigorous vines that easily reach 6-8 feet long. This variety requires more heat and time to mature completely. Allow fruit to fully ripen on the vine for optimum flavour; fruits should almost fall off the vine when ready.
These rich, meaty beefsteak tomatoes are very versatile - great for slicing, canning, drying and salsas.
Enjoy prolific yields of delicious sweet, juicy beefsteak tomatoes all season long. Super Fantastic tomatoes have dark red, smooth blemish free, skin. Fruits are uniform in size: 8 -10 cm (3-4") diameter, weighing on average about 283 grams (10 oz.).
Vigorous vines grow 1.8-2.7 meters (6-9') tall and require good caging or staking.

A fantastic beefsteak tomato with glossy red fruit. Caiman has it all with high productivity and uniformity, and a meaty and juicy texture with well-balanced flavour. Its open growth habit and medium height work well in the greenhouse, where it is best suited. Fruit sets well, even in hot weather. An excellent disease package includes fusarium and leaf mold resistance. Expect several trusses of large tomatoes per plant.
Tomato - Early Girl
Choose Early Girl tomato seeds for a fast and early crop of delicious medium-sized red tomatoes. This is an early maturing variety for coastal grower. The plants keep bearing fruit heavily throughout the summer on manageable, disease resistant vines, producing baskets of tasty, 110-170g 4-6 oz) tomatoes.
A prairie favourite, Manitoba tomato plants bear medium-large fruits 170 grams (6 oz). The bright red fruits have smooth skin and firm, meaty flesh with a refreshing, tangy tomato taste. Well suited for slicing and preserving.

The plants are not quite as productive as cucumbers, but the fruits are amazingly cute and novel. They look like tiny watermelons, but have a very appealing cucumber flavour with slight citrus notes. Eat them fresh or pickle them for a crunchy treat. Harvest them at the 2cm (1") size, before the seeds develop.

The fruits are 20cm (8") long with thin, shiny, dark skins, and crisp, sweet, flavourful flesh. The seeds are small in a tight seed cavity. Plants are very productive both outdoors and in the greenhouse, but were bred with open field growing in mind. Lots of fruits develop on each plant in one relatively concentrated set. They are suitable for pickling when picked immature, but they make fine slicers at full size.
Long European salad cucumber with thin skin and crispy, bitter-free flesh. Vista’s vigorous, all-female flowering, parthenocarpic vines set an abundance of 35-40cm (13-16”) long, slender fruit.

Smooth skin type with sweet flavour and nice crunch. Lebanese cucumbers are spineless and burpless with skin so tender it doesn’t need to be peeled. Parthenocarpic plants can be grown indoors and out. Best harvested at 10-13cm (4-5”).

The mini cucumbers are uniform with smooth skins and crisp, mildly sweet flesh. Harvest the cucumbers often so plants keep producing. Pick at finger size for the crunchiest texture. 7-8cm (2.5-3") fruit that are perfect for snacking.
Delicious crisp and sweet cucumbers can be eaten fresh off the vine. Best picked when fruit is 4-6cm (1.5-2.5”) long.

Dark purple to almost black skinned, glossy, oblong, large fruits that form early on sturdy plants. Grown for over 100 years, this heirloom is a heavy producer with up to 12 fruits per plant, but needs lots of heat.

This delectable Italian heirloom eggplant is known for its beauty as well as its culinary features. The plump, 10-15cm (4-6") fruits are globular and bi-coloured in a gradient. Like a work of art, their ivory canvases are covered in broad, violet/purple brushstrokes. The mildly sweet flesh is meaty, with no bitterness.
This Italian-type eggplant produces 18cm (7") long fruits with glossy, snowy white skins that resists yellowing. The sweet, mild flesh is meaty and firm, holding up well in cooking. The sturdy plants are vigorous, and well adapted to a wide variety of conditions, including containers. This fast grower is a great choice for growers in short season areas.

Hot Pepper - Jalapeno M.
Eight Ball is a novel, round zucchini with dark green skin and some yellow speckling, borne on an easy-to-pick, bushy plant that only grows to about 1m (3') wide.
Large bush plants grow semi-upright and open, and are loaded with glossy dark green fruits with firm creamy white flesh and fine flavour. Plants are productive very early, and over a long period. Best eaten when under 20cm (8" long). Black Beauty zucchini seeds are the best variety for freezing.
Jalapeno M Pepper Seeds produce pungent, thick-walled and juicy dark green peppers that are 8cm (3") long and about 2cm (1") wide with a blunt end. Fruits set well on mid-sized plants 60-90cm (24-36") tall.
Hot Pepper - Tabasco
A perfect pepper for pickling or hot sauce and one of the main ingredients in the famous Tabasco sauce! Glossy, small 3 cm (1.2”) long red cylindrical, upward facing, slightly tapered fruits have a nice, but gentle hotness to them compared to Caribbean Hot or Trinidad Scorpion.

Early maturity and large, attractive fruit make Arapaho an excellent Cayenne pepper. Compact, 45cm (18") tall plants produce high yields of 20-22cm (8-9") long fruit with moderately thick walls and mild heat.
Scotch Bonnet pepper seeds produce the brightly coloured chile peppers that are widely used in Jamaican and other Caribbean cooking and have a flavour profile that is quite distinct from its close cousin the Habanero.
Hot Pepper - Long Red Cayenne
Long Red Cayenne is moderately hot. Plants about 75 cm tall produce thin, tapered, hot peppers about 12.5 cm long and 1.25 cm thick. The fruit is often curled and twisted and ripens to a green/crimson red. Ideal for canning, pickling or drying! A very good all purpose hot chili.

Immature peppers are either dark purple or light yellow and mature to purple-streaked red or orange. A fun and surprising array of colours.
The delicious 2-3 lobe peppers have an excellent fresh flavor. Depending on the variety, peppers will ripen from green to chocolate to red or yellow.
Sweet Pepper - King of the North
King of the North Organic is one of the most reliable and productive bell peppers for northern gardens. It is known for its ability to produce substantial, blocky peppers in short, cool seasons. The plants are sturdy and upright, with thick-walled, lobed fruits that ripen from bright green to vivid red and get even sweeter as they do.

California Wonder bears large thick-walled, blocky peppers on vigorous 45-60cm (18-24") tall plants. The peppers are 4-lobed and start out green but turn a lovely red, growing to nearly 13cm (5") long and 10cm (4") wide. Fruit is much sweeter when fully mature.
Prism’s snack size peppers mature from yellow-green to orange to red and are tasty at every stage. Tall plants are loaded with 5.5 x 5.5cm (2.25 x 2.25") 3-5 lobed fruit and can benefit from support. A great choice for gardeners with its high yield per plant compared to standard size bells. Productive late into the season.
Lettuce - Coastal Star
This romaine is early maturing with a high resistance to corky root. Heads are tightly packed around blanched tender hearts, and have an overall pleasant lettuce flavour. Growth is very upright on plants that average around 30cm (12″) tall.
Grow sweet and crunchy baby leaf salad greens or full-sized heads — just space to suit the purpose. This blend can be harvested at the baby leaf stage, mid-head, or full-head size without losing any of its characteristics. This blend of two green and two red Eazyleaf lettuces grows a diversity of shapes and textures for an interesting and tasty salad.
Kale varieties that thrive in the warmth of summer is intended for succession planting, starting early in the year. Sow short rows at three week intervals for a perpetual supply of baby greens, and allow half the crop to continue maturing into the cool weather at the end of summer.

Vigorous plants that grow big, mid-green leaves all summer long. Keep picking the growing tips and the 2 pairs of leaves below them for the kitchen. More branches sprout more leaves. Sweet basil is a large-leaved Italian type that is glorious for pesto.

The blend includes basil with large, smooth leaves that are suitable for pestos, pastas and salads, and also more pungent varieties to make vinegars and herbal teas. Basil flowers are also edible so add them to your dishes too! This Kitchen Blend can be grown on the windowsill, in the garden or in containers on the patio.
Flat, dark green leaves are deeply cut, with a rich parsley flavour ideal for cooking or salads.

A herbaceous perennial self-sows and bees love it. Plants grow vigorously so keep self-sown seedlings thinned out. The plants are deer resistant, so a useful filler plant for coastal areas. This plant belongs in every organic herb garden and has been cultivated for centuries as a medicinal plant.
Bees adore oregano when it is in bloom. Oregano is one of the best herbs for drying because it maintains a strong flavour for months after harvest.
Bouquet Dill is a particularly good variety to grow for nice looking bunching at the market table, and works well in containers or smaller herb gardens. This dill has fragrant, lacy foliage, large yellow flower heads, and large seeds, but the plants only grow about waist high. Bouquet dill grow into compact plants around 75-90cm (30-36") tall.

The large, flat, white bulbs are a delicious treat.
Winter Thyme plants grow to a height of 30cm (12"). Wonderful in Mediterranean cuisine, teas, potpourri and a key ingredient of bouquet garni.
Rosemary has stiff stems with crisp, fir-like leaves and a strong, rich aroma. Dried leaves release more flavour if freshly crushed. Plant in full sun in the garden or a big container. This is one of the woody stemmed perennial herbs, and in the right spot, plants can become large and shrubby.

Linnaeus Burning Embers marigold is lovely in containers or scattered throughout the vegetable garden. It attracts beneficial insects while at the same time repelling pests. Height to 60-90cm (24-36").
Brilliant 5cm (2") wide flowers in gold to mahogany atop 30-38cm (12-15") plants. This is a medium height marigold that works well in large containers. Grow in full sun and deadhead regularly to enjoy flowers from May to heavy frost. The plants are drought resistant, so a good candidate for xeriscaping.
Lovely, delicate Cosmos in a range of colours, from fuchsia to pink to white, that only grows to 90cm (36") tall in full sun. This is a shorter version of the Sensation Mix, but not technically a dwarf variety.
Zinnia - California Giants Mix
California Giants Mix Zinnia seeds form bushy plants that carry masses of huge, 12-15cm (5-6") wide, double flowers in brilliant hues of red, yellow, orange, lavender, maroon, violet, and white. Growing to a height of up to 102cm (40"), these plants have a very bold visual appeal.

Calendula are actually short-lived tender perennials. In Canada grow as an annual. Blooms vary in size from 2.5 cm to 10 cm in a range of colours, from yellow, to orange, apricot, and cream. Growing conditions affect colour, flower form, size, and bloom longevity.
Noted for its deeply colored blue-green foliage and contrasting scarlet blossoms. Its long-spurred blossoms are a pleasant addition to the flower garden.

Moulin Rouge’s large 6” pollenless flowers look amazing in bouquets or displayed on their own. Branching plants have slim stems, growing to 120- 180cm (4-6’).
Rich copper red petals are highlighted with golden yellow around a nearly black central disc. Plant Velvet Queen sunflower seeds for 1.5m (5') tall plants with simply gorgeous blooms around 13cm (5") wide. This variety looks its best when contrasted with some bright yellow sunflowers in a border or raised bed.
